Ecommerce accounting in the UAE that follows every dirham.

Excello's ecommerce accounting in the UAE keeps the books for online stores and marketplace sellers: noon and Amazon statements, cash on delivery, Tabby, Tamara and card payouts matched to the bank, VAT tracked on every sale and fee, and the month closed within five business days.

Money reaches a UAE seller from half a dozen directions, each on its own timetable. Your books should show where every dirham is, inside your own QuickBooks, Xero or Odoo.

What is ecommerce accounting in the UAE?

Six ways to get paid

Ecommerce accounting in the UAE is the bookkeeping and tax work of an online business selling in the Emirates: marketplace statements, cash on delivery and payment gateways matched to the bank, and VAT tracked on every sale and each fee.

An ecommerce business in the UAE rarely gets paid one way. A noon seller receives weekly statements, Amazon pays settlements, buy-now-pay-later providers pay on set weekdays, and couriers hand over cash-on-delivery money days after the parcel arrives. Each takes its fees first, and most add VAT to them.

noonA statement every week, paid once earnings reach AED 100 (AED 1,000 to a bank account in another currency)Sales, referral and fulfillment fees, VAT on fees, returns and cash on delivery

Cash on delivery, matched order by order

The cash you have not received yet

With cash on delivery, the sale happens at the door but the money arrives later, from the courier or inside a marketplace statement, less fees. Until then, it is money owed to you.

Excello records each delivered order as a sale and the uncollected cash as a balance the courier owes. When the remittance lands, it is matched to its orders, the fees go to their own accounts, and any order still unpaid stands out.

UAE VAT for ecommerce sellers

5% on sales and fees

UAE VAT for ecommerce works like VAT for any business: registration is required once taxable supplies pass AED 375,000 in 12 months, and allowed from AED 187,500. A registered seller charges 5% on sales in the UAE.

The part sellers miss is the VAT on fees: noon and Amazon UAE both add VAT to their fees, and so do payment providers. With the tax invoices kept, that VAT can usually be reclaimed, which lowers what you pay.

Returns and payment are due within 28 days of each tax period, quarterly for most businesses. Excello prepares them from the reconciled books, as set out on the UAE tax page.

Corporate tax, free zones and selling into Saudi Arabia

Beyond VAT

Corporate tax for online sellers

Taxable income up to AED 375,000 is taxed at 0% and anything above at 9%. Revenue of AED 3 million or less can qualify for Small Business Relief in tax periods ending by 31 December 2026.

A free zone company pays 0% only on qualifying income, and sales to individual customers often fall outside it, so free zone status needs a review. Both are on the UAE tax page.

Noon KSA and Amazon.sa

Many UAE sellers also sell in Saudi Arabia. Those sales are recorded in the same set of books, from their own statements in riyals, and converted into your base currency, so you can see what each country earns.

Choosing ecommerce accounting services in Dubai and the UAE

Five questions

There are many accounting services in Dubai and across the Emirates. For an online seller, these five questions separate the ones that know ecommerce.

  1. How will you track cash on delivery the courier has not paid yet?
  2. Can you take a noon statement apart and match it to my bank?
  3. Will my VAT returns reclaim the VAT on marketplace, courier and payment fees?
  4. How do Tabby and Tamara payouts reach my books?
  5. Will my books be ready for corporate tax and Small Business Relief?
